Astro Plastics has produced highly engineered thermoplastic profile extrusions for the O.E.M. market, as well as innovative proprietary products for construction and other markets, for more than fifty years. Because of our proven manufacturing expertise and unique design solutions, the possibilities for developing our custom profile extrusion business and expanding our customer base by building sales is endless.
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to serve as our Business Development Manager, primarily focusing on the custom profile extrusion market. Based at our Covington, Georgia office, this individual will work to identify and engage potential O.E.M. customers and will lead company growth through new business development activities. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in O.E.M. market development, as well as product promotion and sales management.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company’s processes and capabilities, as well as its customer base and the industries they service.
  • Research and identify potential new business opportunities; assess and understand customer requirements and present the appropriate products / services to secure new business.
  • Contact potential and existing customers via telephone, Internet, sales calls, trade shows, print advertising, etc. to determine if their needs match our capabilities.
  • Create and implement account strategies to manage and optimize relationships, revenue, and profit.
  • Guide and assist Astro engineers and management in quoting new jobs and other related steps in the development of new custom accounts; perform “Account Manager” responsibilities for designated accounts.
  • Communicate effectively with various departments within the company to ensure that opportunities are being met and customer relationships are being maximized.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Engineering, or related field preferred)
Experience:
  • 3-5 years of progressive sales experience, preferably related to engineered building materials / specialty products
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Must have new business development experience
Skills:
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, possess strong leadership skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate computer and other basic office equipment (Microsoft Office products)
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and / or Solid Works program is helpful
  • Experience with CRMs is a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25-50% of the time
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license
